Desatnik Retires after 32+ Years with CHAMPS GPO

March 01, 2019

On Friday, March 1, Betty Desatnik retired from CHAMPS Group Purchasing after more than 32 years with the organization. As CHAMPS GPO’s manager of contracting services, Desatnik specialized in contract management, financials and analytics.

Prior to that role, Desatnik served the organization as a secretary in the patient accounts department, as well as a secretary and then contracts and group affiliates specialist in the materials management services department. She served under 15 different managers in her years with the organization and is proud to have gone back to school to earn her associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in business management while employed at CHAMPS.

“Betty has mentored every single member of our team at one point or another,” said CHAMPS GPO Vice President Tracy Wise in a toast at Desatnik’s retirement party Friday. “It feels like working with family when you work at CHAMPS. And Betty is a huge reason why.”

“Whether you work directly with Betty or not,” added Director of Contracting Services Jan Elder. “We owe her a debt of gratitude for her service to CHAMPS and her role in documenting our revenues. Her accuracy and attention to detail have gone directly to our bottom line.”

In preparation for Desatnik’s departure, Chris Zupancic has been promoted from price implementation coordinator to fee analyst for CHAMPS GPO. Zupancic has been with CHAMPS for nearly three years and has been training alongside Betty in recent months preparing to acquire her responsibilities. As a fee analyst, Chris manages member spend volume and administrative fees, ensures the accuracy of financial records, as well as creates and updates financial reports.

After serving the organization at the front desk since April 2018, Denise Fore was promoted to Zupancic’s former role and is now serving CHAMPS as a data entry assistant.

Also recently promoted, was Dan Schneiderman who has been with CHAMPS since April 2018. Schneiderman was promoted from sourcing specialist to sourcing manager. In his new role, he assists in maintaining the CHAMPS contract portfolio, as well as leads sourcing efforts for business opportunities to develop new contracts and grow the CHAMPS portfolio.
